Join us for an inspiring installment of Sankofa Nights as we screen the award-winning documentary Gaining Ground: The Fight for Black Land, executive produced by Al Roker. This stirring film examines the legacy of Black farming in America, the systemic land dispossession that followed emancipation, and the innovative strategies today’s land stewards employ to reclaim agricultural rights and build generational wealth. Attendees will gain exclusive insights into the challenges and triumphs of Gullah Geechee land preservation, with a post-screening conversation led by Local Gullah heritage experts. Admission is free.
